My name is Jim Augustine and I am a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.  

My teaching responsibilities are in neuroscience for our first-year medical students as well as fundamentals of neuroscience for graduate students.  

I am past chair of the USC Faculty Senate and currently serve as University Ombudsman at USC.  In addition to my academic responsibilities, I am a member of the Faculty Commons.

I have been married for 39 years to Mary T. Augustine, a pediatric nurse, and we have three children, two sons in-laws, and seven grandchildren.  

We attend First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC where I serve as a ruling elder.
